The windmill next to the former Immerath railway station
was demolished in 2018

The Immerather mill stood a little away from Immerath, directly on Autobahn 61. Next to the mill was the Immerather train station, which opened in 1897 and closed in 1980. The station building was still in private use until it was bought by RWE and demolished. The mill was built in 1631 and closed in 1936. The building was badly damaged during the Second World War and was restored in the 1950s. The Immerather mill was last renovated in 1979. The complex had been a listed building since the mid-1980s, but due to the advance of open-cast mining, it was no longer maintained and continued to fall into disrepair. There were plans to move parts of the mill to Neu-Immerath, but these failed and so the building was demolished in October 2018.
