DOKUMENTATION GARZWEILER

A photographic documentary by Arne Müseler

Roitzerhof

The yard belonging to Holzweiler will
one of the last buildings to be demolished

The Roitzerhof, built in 1757, is a listed building. Nevertheless, it will be demolished in the 1930s for the advancing Garzweiler II opencast mine. This means that the old farm is one of the last buildings that will be used for this opencast mine.

Twelve villages will be demolished for opencast mining

Five villages have already been completely destroyed, one has almost nothing left and six others are currently being relocated. Two to three individual farms, the final mining limit is not yet entirely certain, will be relocated towards the end of the opencast mining.
